FAQs
Where are the gymnastics classes?
We are located in the rear building of The Well Church in Hazelwood. The exact address is 1536 Sulphur Springs Rd. Waynesville, NC 28786. There is a sign on the glass door where your gymnastics class will be taking place.
What should my child wear?
The best clothes for gymnastics are usually a leotard or dance outfit. Flexible shorts and a fitted shirt can work too. Let me tell you what makes gymnastics a bit trickier: loose shirts that fly up. Loose pants that shrug off. Make sure hair is up and out of the way for class.
My child has done gymnastics but we don’t want to drive far away—can they come to Waynesville Gymnastics?
Good question! Does your son or daughter compete? If so we may not be the best choice as we don’t have the equipment to support competitive gymnastics. However, we can support your gymnast on bars, beam or floor with the skills that are fundamental to higher lever gymnastics. If they are recreational gymnasts or aren’t competitive yet, we are a great place!
Does it cost to try a class?
You will only pay for the class you try. You do not need to commit to the class until you decide if it is a good fit. Preschool Foundations classes are $10, 5-7 year old Foundations classes are $15, and our Beginner Girl and Boy classes are $20. If you decide you love the class then let the coach know and pay for the remainder of the month. This holds the spot for your child.
Is there are commitment?
We ask that if you like a class and want to be sure there is a spot for your child, you pay for the month of classes on the 1st of each month. The price is the cost of 1 class multiplied by how many days per month your child will come. (If the class is $15 and there are 4 Thursdays in the month, you pay $60. If there are 5 Thursdays, you pay $75). This keeps the math fair for everyone and ensures a class spot for your child.
My child has never had a gymnastics class, is that ok?
It all begins somewhere, right? Let it be here! We don’t mind if you have never had a gymnastics class. Kids pick up what they need to know so fast.
What ages do you usually teach?
The youngest we see gymnasts is 3 years old and the oldest right now are around 14. The equipment and the space we have right now limits upper level skill development but we will have a larger space one day!
What classes are open?
Check the Programs page on the website and scroll down to where it says “Open Classes” and if you don’t see a time for your child, email the gym and we will consider more classes.
How large are your classes?
We see around 7-8 gymnasts in a class as “full.” Some groups work so well together we can fit more but this is uncommon. A small class size ensures lots of personal attention while still benefitting from group work. For our preschool classes we usually stick to 6 children.
